Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Covington, WA

Americans are obsessed with perfect teeth, and they are prepared to spend millions of dollars each year to achieve that goal, according to recent statistics.

When we ask our patients if they are happy with the way their smile looks, a substantial percentage of answers are negative, so we have much work to do.

At Covington Family Dental, we are excited to offer Invisalign aligners as an effective orthodontic treatment vs traditional wire braces.

Why Do I Need Braces?

In general, young teenagers will need braces because of problems with their bite, overcrowding, or to fix teeth that are out of place.
The most common way to fix any orthodontic problem is with wire braces that are in place for several years while the teeth shift positions into the ideal position.

With traditional wire braces, you follow a treatment plan that is created after x-rays are taken, and your specific needs are established. There will be several appointments to adjust the braces as the teeth shift. Rubber bands are used to help the process move along.

This is the traditional route most people take to achieve that perfect smile, but having a mouthful of wires for three years or longer can be uncomfortable. The adjustments are sometimes painful as well.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a relatively new technology that uses clear aligners that straighten your teeth. The treatments are up to two times faster than traditional wire braces.

This innovative technology is extremely attractive because of the option to remove the aligners when needed, for example, to brush your teeth, and because of the no-show look of the treatment.

How Does Invisalign Work? Invisalign vs Braces

Once you decide to use Invisalign as your orthodontic option to straighten your teeth, you will be in for a treat.

We will begin by taking impressions of your teeth and, after this stage is complete, your custom aligners are made with special material that keep you comfortable throughout the entire process.

Because each person's gums are unique, your aligners will be trimmed to fit you like a glove. This ensures the aligners feel better once you start wearing them. We will make sure the aligners fit you perfectly.

For best results, we recommend you use your Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Invisalign retainers even come with a blue compliance indicator to ensure your teenager is wearing them long enough.

Invisalign FAQs

Can You Eat With Invisalign?

Yes, you can eat during Invisalign treatment because the aligners are removable. You may take them off to eat or drink.

Can You Chew Gum With Invisalign?

Yes, you can chew gum, but only if you remove your Invisalign aligners first! It is not recommended to chew gum while your aligners are in.

Can I Brush Invisalign With Toothpaste?

Keeping them clean by brushing them gently with your toothbrush is essential. However, we do not recommend using toothpaste to clean your Invisalign aligners, since it can be too abrasive.
